This guys ended up being pretty tough the multiprocessor ability that allows two concentration spells coupled with multiple casting pushed the party to the limit. Very cool monster. Don’t make the same noob DM mistake I did. Print out two copies of the apprentices as they have the same spells so its a bit difficult to track who had cast what and what was being concentrated on. You could even customise their spells to be even more complimentary but I didn’t got that far.

Delicate Circuitry. When a robotic apprentice is bloodied (reduced to 50% or lower) it looses the ability to cast two spells as part of its attack action as well as its multiprocessor ability.
Electromagnetic Casting. A robotic apprentice infuses its spells with electromagnetic energy. A creature targeted by a robotic apprentice’s spell or within the area of a robotic apprentice’s spell when it is cast takes 1d6 points of lightning damage and 1d6 points of force damage in addition to experiencing the effects of the spell, regardless of whether the creature succeeds or fails its saving throw (or whether a saving throw is allowed).
Gift of the Machine God. As a creature of technology the cloud gains many damage and condition residences and immunities but they are also susceptible to lightning based attacks.
Multiprocessor. A robotic apprentice is a master of multitasking due to its multiple computer cores. It may maintain two concentration spells.
Spellcasting. A robot apprentice is a 1Oth-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 14, +6 to hit with spell attacks). The robot apprentice has the following wizard spells prepared:
- Cantrips (at will): mage hand, minor illusion, poison spray (Range: melee CON or1d12/6 poison), ray of frost (Range: 1z, 1d8/4 cold, -10’)
- 1st level (4 slots): mage armor*, magic missile (3x 1d4+1/6), shield, witch bolt (C, 1d12/6 ongoing lightening), grease (Range/AOE: 1z, difficult terrain, DEX or prone), summon monster I (a servitor, as duodrone)
- 2nd level (3 slots): glitterdust (as faerie fire +blinded), misty step (bonus, teleport 1 zone), web (C, 1 zone, DEX or restrained, STR to break)
- 3rd level (3 slots): stinking cloud (C, CON or retching), lightning bolt (8d6/24, DEX)
- 4th level (3 slots): Evard’s black tentacles (C, Range: 1z, AOE: 1z, DEX, 3d6/9 + restrained), greater invisibility (C)
- 5th level (2 slots): cloudkill (C, 1 zone, CON 5d8/20 poison)
* Denotes spells already active.
Multiattack. A Robotic Apprentice can make four slam attacks or two slam attacks and cast two spells or two slam attacks use two wands.
Machine Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d8 + 2) bludgeoning damage.
Berserk Flailing. When a robot apprentice has lost half of its hit points it immediately uses machine slam against each adjacent enemy.
During Combat The apprentices use web to block the exit from this room and perhaps catch a few PCs, then use stinking cloud and glitterdust against foes to try to minimize reprisals. A robot isn’t above casting grease on itself to aid it in moving through its own web spell if needed. The apprentices prefer to refrain from entering melee until they outnumber foes capable of fighting back, and focus their attacks on spellcasters first. The apprentices attempt to immobilize and detain foes rather than kill them, hoping to deliver enemies stripped of gear and bound with rolls of ion tape to their master’s personal laboratory in the dungeon.
Morale The robotic apprentices fight until destroyed, but do not pursue foes out of this room.
